What is Membership?
To be a member of any family brings both responsibility and privilege. To be a member of God's family is the highest privilege and requires the greatest responsibility of all.

Membership in a local New Testament church is critical for one's spiritual growth. It is a special covenant we make between God and our fellow members to enjoy the privileges and carry out the responsibilities that come with being a part of God's family.

Our basis membership requirements are:

• Salvation (placing one's faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior)
• Baptism (by immersion after one has believed in Christ)
• Completion of the six classes of Discovery 101
• A willingness to participate in a ministry here at Sonrise.

Sonrise Membership Covenant
At Sonrise, members covenant to God and to each other to fulfill the following:

Protect the unity of the church by:

• Acting in love
• Speaking in an edifying manner
• Honoring the leaders

Sharing in the responsibility of the church by:

• Praying for its growth
• Reaching the unchurched
• Being hospitable

Serving in the ministry of the church by:

• Sharing of gifts and talents
• Receiving and following instruction
• Developing a servant's heart

Supporting the testimony of the church by:

• Attending faithfully
• Living a godly lifestyle
• Giving regularly

Ready to Become a Member?
The first step in the membership process is to attend the Discovery 101 class. This is a six week series that covers the basic beliefs of Sonrise.

The membership process includes an opportunity to meet personally with one of the pastors to discuss membership. That meeting will provide membership candidates with an opportunity to ask the pastor questions about Sonrise. It also provides an opportunity for the pastor to affirm the candidate's desire to join Sonrise, and to affirm compliance with our basis membership requirements:

• Salvation (placing one's faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior)
• Baptism (by immersion after one has believed in Christ)
• Completion of the six classes of Discovery 101
• A willingness to participate in a ministry here at Sonrise.

If you are interested in uniting with us in Membership, you are invited to begin the process by attending Discovery 101 on Sundays at 10:30 AM.
